Non-Religious or Civil Wedding Ceremony
A Non-Religious Wedding Ceremony, also known as a Civil Ceremony, is one performed when a couple does not wish to have any religious components to the ceremony. This still may include some spiritual elements in the couple’s vows, special readings or symbols if you so wish.

Vow Renewal Wedding Ceremony
A Vow Renewal Ceremony is a ceremony in which a married couple renews or re-affirms their wedding vows. To some couples, the Vow Renewal Ceremony offers the chance to celebrate the wedding they never had. In some instances, couples might desire a vow renewal ceremony after having passed through a difficult time in their relationship, a significant anniversary or to have the ceremony they were initially unable to celebrate. It may be as simple or as elaborate as you wish.
A Vow Renewal Ceremony is seen as a special way for the married couple to renew their commitment to each other and demonstrate that the vows they took are still considered sacred.
Elopement Wedding Ceremony
The term Elopement has changed greatly over the years. Today elopement is defined simply as a small, intimate wedding. This could be a destination wedding, an intimate gathering of friends and family in an outside setting, a casual wedding, a non-traditional wedding or an intimate ceremony in your home. Your elopement may consist of just you and your partner in front of your officiant and witnesses, as is required or it could include a small group of family, close friends and guests. Similarly, your elopement ceremony can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish. Your Love & Light Officiant is available to assist you in creating the unique ceremony for your special day!
Wedding Ceremony Additions
Sand Ceremony
A growing wedding trend, the Sand Ceremony, is a wonderful ceremony addition. The meaning is simple and beautiful……two become one!
In a Sand Ceremony, the bride and groom add different colors of sand into one beautiful, unique, container, thereby symbolizing every aspect (grain of sand) of their lives and hearts entwined forever.
The pouring of the sand can take place at any time before, after or during the wedding vows and ring exchange. Typically the bride and groom will provide two beautiful and distinct jars of sand, each containing a specific color. A third jar sits empty until the officiant has explained the Sand Ceremony and its meaning. At that time, the bride or groom pours some of her/his sand into the empty container. Their partner does the same to form a beautiful design, symbolizing the unique journey they are about to begin!
Unity Candle Ceremony
The Unity Candle Ceremony uses two taper candles with a large pillar candle, referred to as the “Unity Candle”, in the center. At the beginning of the wedding ceremony, a representative from each family (usually the mothers of the bride and groom or the bride and groom themselves) light the two taper candles. Later in the ceremony, usually after the formal vows, the bride and groom use the two taper candles to light the Unity Candle together. The lighting ceremony may be accompanied by special music, an explanation of the symbolism, a reading or poem. Often the couple will save the Unity Candle and re-light it on their anniversary.
Rose Ceremony
In the Rose Ceremony, the bride and groom give each other a single rose. This part of the ceremony is usually placed at the end, just before being pronounced husband and wife. In the ancient language of flowers, a single red rose always meant “I love you”. Other colors, such as yellow, representing friendship and new beginnings, may also be used. This ceremony may be modified and used with parents or children perhaps with a dark pink rose representing appreciation and gratitude. The Rose Ceremony gives recognition to each other and those we love in a very special way.
